Our final day and last dinner

Our final day ended in Dunedin. We travelled around Dunedin and went to the steep street and we all had to walk to the top. This was quiet an effort. After this we went to the old railway station and looked at the old building. It was very pretty. This was a great end to our tour.

Last night was our final night, ending with a fantastic dinner at Lone Star. It was a fantastic way to end the tour with everyone eating so much that we only just had room for dessert. We all bonded together over the amazing trip we had and sharing our favourite experiences. It was a great way to the tour. We will all miss everyone we shared so much with.

Balclutha Netball Game

This game was played in a new stadium that contained 4 indoor courts which was really cool. Everyone played extremely well and with this being our last game it was full of twists and turns. We were leading in the first two quarters of the game. After the game the girls made afternoon tea for us. The other teams were really friendly and it was lovely to make some new friendships.

                                                                                                                      Grace M

When we arrived it was lovely to meet Grace T family on the sideline for some moral support. The game started with a really strong start. We were up by 6 goals by quarter time however the opposition increased the intensity of the game and came back to within 2 goals. The last two quarters were quiet hard but we continued to stick to our game plan and came through as a team, winning by 6 goals. After the game we had afternoon tea, it was great to meet the other players and find out that they were  coming to the Gold Coast. We are hoping that next time they come over we will be able to have billeting opportunities.

Queenstown

We woke up and the weather wasn't looking great (it was raining heavily) and we were really worried that we wouldn't be able to luge. While we waited for the weather to pass we decided to go shopping. After making an impact on Glassons $5 rack, a definite highlight, we decided to go to the park for a look at the lakeside. This then created a whole in our stomachs that needed to be filled. So we made a journey back to our community kitchen for a quick lunch as the weather had changed into a beautiful afternoon which meant that we could finally luge. We made it up the mountain while the teachers surprised us with an extra 3 exhilarating luge rides. This made our day!!! The first ride was the scenic route that we all had to do, loving the view of the mountains and water. After this we were allowed to go on the Red Line which meant more speed. After racing down the hill 4 more times we headed indoors for a warm drink as the sun was shining but the wind was cold. After our day up the mountain we headed for home with a quick stop at the famous Ferg Burgers. We can't believe we are heading home in 2 days.

Shotover Jet Ride and Zip line

Today we were told we were jet boat riding. I thought this would be really fast and fun, I wasn't wrong. When we arrived at the jet boat there were many people hoping off soaking wet, but with huge smiles on their faces. We were all keen and excited to hop on. The man gave us a spray jacket and a life jacket and we were ready to go. The ride was scary and exciting, with 360 degree spins and close encounters with rocks. The jet reached up to 95km and hour. We all enjoyed it was a great start to the day and an awesome and thrilling experience.

We then headed to the zip line. I really didn't know what to expect but I knew it would be fun. We were weighed and stepped into our harness and were securely fastened. The ride was short but fast and we enjoyed amazing scenery and watched other people bungy jump from high platforms over crystal blue water. There were many different ways to travel on the zip line such as upside down, backwards and tandem. We all really enjoyed it and it was a fun experience I won't forget and I'm sure the other girls feel the same.

St Andrews College

Both Grammar teams played St Andrews A & B teams. Going into the games we knew it would be a challenge which made us motivated throughout the game. The Senior Grammar team and the St Andrews A team (which included some nation level players). In the first half we were given a run for our money but in the third quarter our attack and defence picked up and we came out a few points ahead. Unfortunately though, in the last quarter, was the hardest we came with a loss of 4 points.

In the social team a massive improvement was seen as everyone showed strength in the game. The defence in the opposition was strong but our shooters picked up many valuable points. All up this was a good game for the team but unfortunately St Andrews came through in the end.
